In commemoration of Taiwan's 228 massacre 60th anniversary, a "March for Taiwan" participated by more than 40 Taiwanese American organizations took place from Feb. 24 to 28, 2007. The march started at Independence Hall, Philadelphia and finished at Capitol Hill, Washington, DC. Among those 150 miles, a group of 25 core marchers covered 50 miles by walk or run in inclement weather. Most significantly, the Taiwanese "Forest Gump" Mr. Lau Kim-sia, 72, came all the way from Taiwan to join the entire march by running the 50 miles in 4 days.
